The process of going through an appraisal is going through insurance contracts and each party tries to resolve an insurance dispute depending on the state’s law which leads to resolving insurance disputes by selecting an independent appraiser who is a third person who serves as an umpire and facilitates the claims based on the evidence. During this process, each party chooses their own appraiser and try to come to a resolution on a bottom-line number of the loss. If both parties cannot agree, then a neutral umpire is appointed, by either the attorneys, courts, policyholders or appraisers.
