Here we are in a new age where the handshake might now be obsolete. The specific handshake can determine whether someone might get a job. Now, what will the interviewer do in accessing the initial confidence of the interviewee? I guess the person will have to have a very firm virtual handshake when meeting with a potential employer. There are strong handshakes to the point where someone’s hand might be sore for days. A lite handshake is where someone hardly knows their hand was even shaken. Also, in the legal field, a confident handshake can secure a new client. Going forward after the world reopens the new handshake might be a nod of the head or a thumbs up. I guess we can wear gloves and actually physically shake someone’s hand. Still, I can’t envision an employer wanting to shake hands in an interview with someone with gloves on. Unless the potential employer also wears gloves. It is instinctive in the way we were raised to offer a handshake. Remember we are navigating through a new world and maybe we are now in the age of the obsolete handshake. No matter how we take this new journey, whether it is using gloves, or the virtual handshake, the handshake will always somehow be part of our culture.
