What happens to parties when a case is filed in the court system. The bubble! This means parties get trapped in a metaphoric bubble as their case travels the journey of litigation. From the beginning of the chapter, when a case is filed and served it can be devastating to someone’s career and overall mental health. The court system is used as a vehicle to resolve a dispute. Unfortunately for those caught up in the system, it is difficult to perceive the overall consequence when one is in the bubble. There is no crystal ball as to what might happen and there is no guarantee as to the outcome. The only guarantee is the stress as each day carries a burden of the unknown. Even if the case is decided by a jury there may be an appeal. Consequently, it might create a do-over right back into the bubble. The court system does not only affect the litigant but the litigant’s family as well. There is time spent and money spent when caught in the bubble of the court system. Due to the courts being clogged with cases, the hope of being called the first time for the case to go to trial is not absolute. The bubble may be able to burst if the parties are amicably able to settle their dispute. Then the former litigants can begin to move beyond the bubble.
